By literal

New Zealand will host the Rugby World Cup in 2011. The event will attract 85,000 visitors to New Zealand. Two thousand five hundred journalists will be covering the event. And an expected 4.3 billion television viewers will be watching rugby. Economically, an estimated 1 billion dollars will be made.

The origins of rugby

In 1823 William Webb Ellis a boarder at Rugby School in Warwickshire, England; broke the rules of football while playing, he picked up the ball and ran to the goal line. Consequently, the game of rugby was formed. The World Cup bears Ellis name.

The haka

There is a war cry preparing the team to be attentive and to unite in battle. It is the leaders task to fire up the team and to assess their opponents. They will display their mana, strength and power to their opponents with the purpose of intimidating them. Their facial expressions are openly fierce. The haka sends out a message that they will be awesome competitors. If the haka is performed well, they play brilliantly.

Discipline training

Professional sportsmen usually have a natural physical ability, learning and perfecting some techniques takes time, they need to be devoted in reaching their goals. A coach who can give constructive feedback on their performance is instrumental in improving their ability; if there is no feedback then no learning will take place. Visualisation is another tool that is used by many athletes. The athlete imagines the whole action of their game, finally, imagining that they have won. This brings a noticeable improvement in performance. How do they achieve peak performance? A combination of training and motivation are two key elements. However, a sport contract will detail training time and so on. Another tool is positive thinking the technique visualisation is used in this activity. Performance anxiety can tighten the muscles and impede performance. Using positive thinking will make no room for failure. Milk calms the nerves and a good sleep will help. Set backs happen athletes should take up the challenge and visualise their success..

The All Blacks at the top of their game

The All Blacks are the top ranked team. They are playing brilliant rugby that utilises the whole playing field mixed with their natural ability they appear invincible. But can it win them the World Cup?. In 2006 their ranking peaked a year from the World Cup, and in 2003 their game peaked a couple of months from the World Cup. This is a weird occurring pattern. It has been reported that the players and the coaches are greatly affected by the World stage and the expectations of the audiences. In 2007 there were no tries in the final and 17 penalty goals. In 2003 there were five tries in the last three games. They will need to focus, steady their nerves and go home with the Ellis cup.  Kick off will commence 9 September 2011.
